When is the last time you talked to God? And how frequently do you talk to him? Do you make it a habit to pray before a meal and at bedtime only or do you talk to God only during the bad times? These are the main questions that we need to ask ourselves to determine if we truly have a relationship with God.
Having a relationship with God goes deeper than just praying to God before mealtime or bedtime as a ritual or only talking to God during the times that we struggle. Having a relationship with God means to involve Him in your daily activities and to talk to Him through the bad times and GOOD. It is like talking to your best friend or marital partner – majority of the time you tell your best friend or marital partner everything right? You tell them about your day and all of the good, bad and ugly. Well this is the same kind of connection that God wants. He wants that same kind of relationship with you. And the more you talk to God daily and involve Him in all aspects of your life, the better you can hear His voice, therefore the stronger your relationship with Him becomes.
Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. James 4:8
And remember, God is also omnipresent and omniscient. He is everywhere and all-knowing. So although God already knows the desires of your heart, even before you pray to Him, and He knows what you have done or will do on a daily basis, the importance of having a relationship with God is so that you can come to Him. So that you can know Him. God wants to save all of His children and wants you to have everlasting life. And that only comes by knowing Him and accepting Him.
….I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6
So if you are married, you said “I do” to your spouse right? You said “I do” because you have accepted that person to be in your life and to involve them in your life daily. There is also a deeper love that the world cannot give and that’s only through a daily connection and relationship with God.
So have you said I do to Him?
